How did October go?
At the beginning of the month I set the following goals for myself. This is the part where I look back at them and record how I did:
Run my first half-marathon -Done!
Finish half marathon in less than 1:43 2:43 -Done! I destroyed this goal and finished in 2:28, very happy with that!
Run my first offical sub-30 5k race -Done in a time of 29:22!
Lose 5 lbs -Not quite. I’m going to...
Toronto Woman's Run 5K - Race Recap
This morning I ran the Toronto Women’s Runs 5k, along with all of the lovely ladies pictured above! I went into the race with 2 specific goals in mind. 1. Wear awesome Halloween socks. 2. Finish the race in less than 30 mins.
I am very happy to announce I met both of those goals and had a whole lot of fun doing it! The socks speak for themselves and I finished the race in 29:22, a new...
Apparently in 30 minutes I, along with a couple others from our running crew, are leading our entire staff through a fun warm-up for a walk we’re doing through the neighborhood.
Party Rock Anthem it is!
WIW
I was down 3.4 lbs on the scale today! Felt good after a 6 week plateau leading up to the half marathon. I had gained about a half pound in those 6 weeks, which is nothing and I wasn’t worried about it, except that it was frustrating to be running so much and not be losing weight! I was struggling with my eating though, as I felt hungry all the time, especially after my long runs which then...
Not this year...
Tonight I had every reason to skip my planned run. The crew bailed on me, it was raining, cold, and dark by the time I got home, not to mention how hungry I felt. Skipping the run was really on my mind.
As I was driving the last few minutes home though, before the final decision had to be made, head for the couch, or get dressed appropriately and head out in the rain, I really started to think...
Note to self: wash running jacket before Saturday’s race or else someone will trip you and throw you in a ditch.
Finally talked myself into going out for today’s run. Goal was a 5-6K tempo run…that’s not quite what happened. What did happen was about 2K tempo, followed by 3K of my constantly looking at my garmin wondering if it was over yet.
I suppose sometimes we just have days like this, but if this is any indication of what I can expect in next weekend’s 5K race, I can forget...

This is so sad and hits too close to home. You expect to hear the he had a heart condition, or hadn’t trained, or at the least had pushed through chest pains for the last 5K, but nothing, no warning.
@lifechangeneededaisle3 There will absolutely be another half, 1 if not 2 in the spring, and then we’ll see what I’m feelin for next fall.
@runningproud I’m super excited about reading your journey to your half. I hope it’s as good as mine was! I am considering the TO Women’s Half in the spring, but the problem is, it’s the same weekend as the Ottawa race...
Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half-Marathon Race...
It’s hard to write a race report when you feel like you can’t put what you felt into words, but here it goes! Edit: That being said, this ended up very long, so feel free to skip parts. I wanted to document as much as I could, so I could go back and read and remember it later!
So Sunday I ran my first ever half marathon, but I am going to start this report a bit earlier with the...
I’m trying to write my race report I promise, but it’s so long, probably boring, and not even finished. Tomorrow. I edit.
I just had a super awesome recovery session at the gym!
45 min class called “recovery and relaxation” consisting of yoga, stretching, and foam roller lovin’
10 min on the spin bike
10 min easy jog on the treadmill
10 min extra foam roller lovin’ to hit some spots I really needed
10 min upper body weights
I feel fantastic!
Um I actually DO have a banana in my pants right now
Just finished my first half marathon in 2:28:20 (unofficial). I am beyond pumped!
More to follow…
I don’t really like how arm warmers make my arms look like sausages, but they may have to make an appearance tomorrow.

1st ringette game of the season!
I know I know, I should be resting the legs for Sunday, but there’s no way I could miss the first game of the season. I was a little wound up, but overall a good first game, we won 4-2. It’s going to be a fun season!
I popped over to the ski and snowboard show.
Dang I want all of the things!
@lifechangeneededaisle3 dude, I’m almost crying at the expo. I have no doubt I’ll bawl at the finish Sunday! So pumped!
