I'm baaaack!
Cuba was awesome, every bit of relaxation that we were hoping for! And while I did indulge in the buffets, desserts and alcohol laced beverages, I am proud to report that I got in 3 solid workouts! I actually found the workouts quite enjoyable! The gym was quite nice and it was air conditioned, so a good escape from the heat at times. I also liked that my workouts were not particularly time...
Well I did it. With the temperature outside going up to “feels like 51 degrees Celsius (123F),” there was no way I was doing anything outside never mind running! It would have been really easy to skip out on my run all together, but I hopped on the treadmill and got it done!

Anyways, I better go pack, departure for...
I’ve been in the market for a hydration *something* for a while now and I just can’t decide what I want. My requirements are pretty simple, it must fit comfortably, it must make me less dehydrated, and it must hold my cell phone and some room for some chews or gels.
I started out sure I wanted a belt, then I got weird about having something around my waist. Then I decided on a...

Ran 7k with the work crew tonight, although with the heat, the crew dwindled to only 3 of us out for this run.
Surprisingly the humidity wasn’t actually as bad as it has been the past couple weeks. I finished my run without wanting to punch someone in the face today!
Carrot Cake Clif bars are currently my favourite.
That is all
I spent an hour gardening yesterday and my hams and glutes hurt more today than they ever have from any workout. I’m debating sleeping on the couch because I can’t get up the stairs!
I strongly dislike gardening.
Well I did it! I’m not going to say I killed it, but I knocked out 15k this morning despite the heat. I admit, I took a few extra walk breaks and I even sat for a few minutes at the half mark to suck back my gel, but I got it done.
The last couple weeks I’ve more than struggled with my weekend LSDs so it feel good to have gotten this one done as per my training plan!
Tomorrow morning I have to run 15K. I’ve never gone past 14, and I’ve been struggling on my LSD runs the last couple of weeks with the heat. I’m having some anxiety, I must nail it tomorrow.

will buy a foam roller (hopefully - where the heck do you get those?)
I got my foam roller at winners! Variety of sizes and great price!
Since I’m training for my first half Marathon using the 10 and 1 approach, it’s been quite a while since I ran a straight 5K without walking, or stopping. I decided to go at it today, taking it easy, but run it straight through. It felt great! Finished off in 34:30 with energy to spare.
I’ve also been looking at a couple more races to get signed up for. Considering the Energizer...

Knocked out 7K after work with the CCS crew. I was feeling kinda bummed about the run because it was so hot and humid and I was struggling big time. But after we finished I realized 4/7 of the crew cut the run short, so at least I did it all! Also, looking at my pace, I did it faster this week than last week and it was hotter, the intention was to go slower!
Oh well, got it done! I’ve been...
I think the trick to taking gels is to make them slide directly down the throat. Do not touch the tongue, do not pause to savour any flavour.
Also, my ipod keeps stopping on me. Not good.
Alright, time to finish off this run.
Me: I really want to get a road bike, I don't like riding my mountain bike on the streets, I want to go fast!
Dave: You can use mine. (pause) I'll bend it back for you.

Set out to do about 5-ishK easy this morning, but about 3.5K in the blisters from thursday were screaming out in pain, so I took my shoes and socks off and finished about 1.2K barefoot. It felt great. Slow, but great, especially where the road was cool and shaded. It’s the first time I’ve ever gone sans footwear for a real run.
This might be a new ritual for me. Get home from a run...
OK, this may be a stupid question, but I haven’t been using my tumblr in quite a while and I kind of forget some of the basics.
I see someone else’s post, I want to comment on it, but there is no ‘reply” link. I see other people have left notes though. How the heck to comment or reply or leave a note or whatever!?!?!

A recent CBC Marketplace report painted a false picture of the Canadian Cancer Society and their choices in spending fundraising dollars. This article, written by a well respected lawyer, actually does his research and paints a much different picture. If you’ve been following the story at all, or reading the CBC articles, I urge you to take a look at this.

The plan for the revival of my tumblr is to talk about my running a lot more here, mixed in with other random things I feel like posting.
Today I also decided to do a 1 mile run every so often to guage my speed improvement. Allow me to start by saying I know I am nowhere near fast but here’s the stats to date:
